Ministry of Finance launches the reconstruction of phase I, Revenue Collection Offices and Tax Institute
MOGADISHU, 11th of March 2019 – Reconstruction of 7 key physical structure projects that are central to revenue mobilization and tax education were launched in the districts of Wadajir, Hodan, Howlwadag, Yaqshid, Hamarweyne and HamarJaJab in Mogadishu today. These include 5 Inland Revenue Offices, Rehabilitation of the Customs Authority Headquarters and a Taxation Training Institute.
Minister of Finance, Dr. Abdirahman Beileh, reiterated the Federal Government of Somalia’s commitment to enhance its capacity to generate domestic revenue and continued to underscore the importance of building both the human and physical capacity to achieve this.
This effort is part of the Ministry’s strategy to strengthen the enablers of revenue mobilization in the country to achieve self-sufficiency.
This major undertaking was made possible by a Grant from the African Development Bank under the “Economic and Financial Governance Institutional Support Project II” project. Once completed, these offices will enhance fiscal policy and the domestic revenue generation efforts of the Somali Federal Government.
